Relics Tier List

Relics are the progression soul of The Relic: First Guardian. Official copy describes memories imbued with emotions and wishes — each carrying one of over seventy unique passive effects that reshape skills, tempo, and weapon styles. Because there is no XP level ladder, your Relic package is your build identity. This page ranks Relic roles so you can assemble coherent loadouts without waiting for a perfect datamined spreadsheet.

For assembly theory, read Relics and builds. For weapon pairing, see the weapons tier list.

Ranking rules

We do not invent named Relic stats that have not been publicly detailed. Instead we tier jobs:

  • S — Core identity — passives you build around
  • A — Enablers — make your core more consistent
  • B — Flex slots — swap per Brutal
  • C — Temporary fillers — equip until a coherent piece drops

When specific Relic names become common after launch, we will map them into these jobs on the updates timeline.

S-tier jobs

Tempo amplifiers — shorten the gap between meaningful actions, enhance skill uptime, or accelerate pressure loops. Best with dagger and long sword families that already create openings.

Defensive success rewards — empower outcomes after guards, parries, or perfect dodges. Best with Sword and Shield and any Groggy-focused plan from the combat guide.

Weapon-style enhancers — explicitly boost the family you committed to. These are the anti-hybrid-trap: they punish random loadouts and reward conviction.

A-tier jobs

Burst window tools — increase punish damage during Groggy or after a skill. Pair with two-handed or Focus-strike play.

Sustain and attrition — improve healing efficiency, post-hit recovery, or long fight stability. Valuable for Brutal walls and exploration days in the world guide.

Cooldown synergies — make staff/magic sequences more reliable without turning every fight into a waiting room.

B-tier jobs

Elemental specialists — shine when a Brutal’s story and kit invite fire, poison, or other preparations. Developers emphasize consumables and elements as boss tools — keep these in flex slots.

Niche traversal or dungeon passives — great for a farming evening, less ideal as your only identity in a duelists’ Brutal.

C-tier jobs

Contradictory fillers — a passive that slows your tempo while your weapon wants speed, or a guard Relic on a pure dodge kit. Not “bad items,” just bad fits. Replace as soon as a coherent drop appears.

Sample packages

Parry warden — defensive success (S) + weapon-style shield enhancer (S) + burst window (A) + sustain (A). Ideal while learning Branko-like fights in the Brutals guide.

Pocket pressure — tempo (S) + weapon-style dagger enhancer (S) + burst (A) + elemental flex (B).

Ember controller — cooldown synergy (A/S) + elemental specialist (B rising to S on the right boss) + sustain (A).

Inventory hygiene

Because Relics are memories, resist the collector urge to equip “the rarest looking” passive. Write one sentence: “This Relic helps me win by ____.” If you cannot finish the sentence, it is a C-tier filler for you.

Launch-week process

  1. Clear early dungeons for a starter set (getting started)
  2. Lock a weapon family for a full evening
  3. Equip only Relics that support that family
  4. Swap flex slots before named Brutals
  5. Re-evaluate after each patch note on updates

Relics are how the dead of Arsiltus still change the living. Choose memories that agree with each other — then let them argue with a Brutal instead of with your own skill bar.
